The Stickney Family (Saxony-Styckney) derives its history
from an early ancestor who came to England with William the
Conqueror in 1066. It is believed he assumed the surname from
the possession of the area known as "Stickney" which was the
custom of the time and settled in what was known as Frampton,
Lincolnshire, England. The branch of the family coming to
America being descended from Robert Stickney I of Frampton who
died Oct. 18, 1582, through his son, William, baptized, Dec. 30,
1558, married Jun. 16, 1585, Margaret Feirson. Their son,
William, was the progenitor of the family in America.

Co., MA, interred Jan. 25, 1665, his will dated Jan. 21, 1664
and proved Mar. 28, 1665, married Elizabeth _____?, born ca.
1608.
He came to America in 1637 from Hull, Yorkshire, England
and became one of the first settlers of Rowley. He was admitted
a freeman Oct. 7, 1640.

Newbury, Sarah Morse, who died Dec.7, 1711 (as Sarah Acreman).
He was a Weaver by trade and owned considerable land in the town
of Newbury.

Rebecca Somerby, born Jun. 7, 1672, died Jan. 30, 1693, the
daughter of Abiel Somerby and Rebecca Knight. By her he had
only his first child, Rebecca. He married (2) probably 1694 in
Newbury, Elizabeth Chute, born Jun. 22, 1676, died ca. 1730/1
(as Elizabeth Hunt), the daughter of James Chute Jr. and Mary
Wood.
Andrew was a large land owner and Cordwainer. He served
against the Indians in 1688 at the request of Gov. Andros and
again in 1708 in Capt. Thomas Noyes Co. in Newbury.

26, 1746 to May 20, 1746. He moved to Hampton, MA in 1752.
From Aug. 24, 1757 to Nov.8, 1757 he served in Capt. Anthony
Towle's Co. in the defense of Fort Edward. He next moved to Rye
and then to Bath, NH. He is listed as one of its earliest
inhabitants.
