Andrews/Andrus Family
The beginning of the Andrews
family in America was descended from Bishop Lancelot Andrews, D. D. an
eminent English Devine born in London, 1555, and died at Winchester House,
Sep. 25, 1626. He was successively Bishop of Chichester, of Ely and
Winchester, and was made Privy Councilor by King James I of England. The
descendants appear to be in order:

Samuel Andrews, born 1757, mar. Annice ?Murray, and changed his name to
Andrus.
They had at least two sons: Charles and James.

Westmoreland, Oneida Co, NY, died May 17, 1850, daughter of Phineas and
Esther Dodge.
