Aylesworth
Kevin
Aylesworth, an experimental physicist,
was selected as the American Physical Society 1995-95 Congressional Science
Fellow. He has worked out of the office of Senator Tom Harkin on defense,
disarmament, energy and veterans' issues. He received his BS in physics from the
University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in 1983. He received his Ph.D. in
experimental condensed matter physics from the University of Nebraska in 1989,
then served as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Associate at the Naval
Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. During his post doc he founded the Young
Scientists' Network to alert policy makers to the deteriorating job market in
science. Kevin Aylesworth is a Senior Program Officer at the National Research
Council. His present job revolves around science policy rather than building
things in the lab, His articles on scientific employment appeared in Newsweek
Focus, APS News, and Physics Today.
