Arthur Aylesworth
Arthur Aylworth, the immigrant ancestor (d. 1726) came to America prior to 1679
but the exact date may be lost to history. Opinions seem to prevail
that he left England because of the religious situations involving King
Charles II. Some members of the family were advocates of the Parliament
in the civil war against the monarchy.
Upon coming to America, he settled in Quidnesset Neck, Rhode Island. He was
appointed an inspector for the county in February 1699, and in May was
elected
Ratemaker
In June of 1699 was elected to the post of Viewer of Fences and
Supervisor of Roads.
