Oct. 30. 1826, daughter of Cyrus Whitney and Lydia (Sweet) Hatfield, and

the building of the Novelty Mills, at Avon, Fulton Co., Ill., lost his
previously
acquired property. After this reverse he settled on a farm on Coal
Creek, near
Ellesville, Ill., where he erected a steam saw-mill and retrieved his
fortune.

in the State of Missouri. He is said to have discovered the Granby
lead
mine. Dwelling in the extreme south western part of Missouri during
the civil war he suffered greatly by the destruction of his property,
and
went into the State of Kansas until peace was restored, when he then
returned to his despoiled lands in Missouri.

over by Arthur the immigrant. The statement has for its authority
Arthur's
grandson, Peleg (3), son of Chad (2), and grandfather of Aaron Aylsworth.

to Thompson, Susquehanna Co. Pa., in March, 1854, where they dwelt
fourteen years, when they moved to Carbondale, Pa. In 1870
they
located upon their farm and present home at Lennoxville, Pa. He has
been assessor, school director, etc.

Willis Aylsworth, a pioneer of Cannon Tp.,
was born in Chenango, Co.,
N. Y., Feb. 24. 1818. His parents: David and Ada (Curtis) Aylesworth,
were natives of Rhode Island and Connecticut. Mr. A.'s grandfather, Peleg
Aylesworth., served through the American Revolution. Mr. A., our
subject. was reared on a farm and in early life learned the carpenter
and
joiner's trade, which he followed for 15 .years. He came to
Washtenaw
county in 1843, and to Cannon in 1845, and located on section 22,
where
he owns 120 acres. He was the second purchaser of this laud, which
had
no improvements. Mr. A. has cleared and finely improved 90 acres
of it.
He was married Aug.8, 1841, to Mary M. Wilkinson, a daughter of James
and Vienna Wilkinson. She was born in Smithfield, R. I., Feb. 7,
1823.
They have one child, a daughter, Mary .M., born Feb. 6, 1845. wife of
Wm.
G. Little. Mr. A. is Democratic in politics. He still retains in
his possession
the farm that he located in pioneer days.

a farmer, born June 21, 1822, married Nov. 5,1845, Harriet Rowley,
born Aug. 26, 1822, daughter of Seth and Jerusha (Thurston) Rowley, of
New Lisbon, N.Y., and dwelt in the Tp.of New Berlin, on the Peleg
Aylsworth homestead, where he met an accidental death Oct. 16, 1880.
A gun in his own hands was discharged into his chest, causing almost
instant death. He was 58 years of age, an obliging neighbor, and
unusually
esteemed for his sterling integrity.

was born May 9, 1832, married Feb. 19, 1855, Henry, son of Stephen

Rowland, of that place. He was a soldier in the 11th Illinois Cavalry,
