GEORGE AYLSWORTH, was born about 1748, died Sept. 14, 1829,
married Elizabeth Weeks,
who was born about 1749, died Aug, 5,1829,
daughter of Ebenezer Weeks, of
Berlin, Rensselaer Co, N. Y., probably. They
moved from Stephenstown, N.Y.,
to Chenango or Cortland Co., N.Y., in 1804.
It is thought that they or the Weekses came
from Berlin, Worchester Co., Mass.
George is buried in the Hinman Cemetery, Pitcher, Chenango Co., N.Y.
Page 442
This
person seems to have allowed his name to be spelled EIsworth, but his
name
appears among the members of the First Baptist Church of Berlin as
Aylsworth,
and seems to have been written so by him.
He
is thought to have had a brother John, and it may be that the John Aylsworth,
of
Berlin, whose wife Sarah administered on his estate in Rensselaer County,
was
the
John his brother. There is no doubt but that they came from Rhode Island,
since
such was the conclusion of my grandfather Elhanan, who knew the family.

Mrs. Richards of Lucas Meets Tragic & Untimely DeathOne of the saddest events which we have ever had to chronicle occurred at Lucas
last evening when Mrs. A. C. Richards, mother of Frank Richards,
Editor of the Lucas Ledger, was struck by a freight train and instantly killed. The
accident occurred at a crossing near the depot. Mrs. Richards was quite deaf
and did not notice the fast freight approaching. She was a grand noble woman and
the news of her tragic death has brought untold sorrow to the hearts of many
firends who will deeply sympathize with the grief-stricken relatives.IN MEMORIAM
Brief sketch of the life of the Late Mrs. A. C. Richards.Last week we mentioned the tragic death of Mrs. A. C. Richards of Lucas
who was killed in this city by a train on Wednesday evening, March 8, 1905, at 5
o'clock. The funeral services were held from her late home on Friday forenoon at
11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. B. Pond of Woodburn, after which the remains
were tenderly laid to rest in the Fry Hill Cemetery.
ALMINA CORDIA ELLSWORTH was born at Stockton, Chautauqua county,
NY., on April 20, 1831. At the age of five years she was left an orphan and then
made her home with her brothers and sisters until her marriage to Benjamin W.
Richards which occurred at Beloit, Wis., on July 4, 1850. Three children were
born to them, only two of whom survive. They are FRANK H. of Lucas, and
MRS. IDA BURNS of Indianola who has been Seriously ill for some time with
nervous prostration and was unable to attend the last sad rites.
In 1856 the family moved to Chariton and resided here until 1859 when they
moved to Garden Grove. MR. RICHARDS, the husband and farther, died at Lucas
on October 23, 1884. Since that time MRS. RICHARDS had resided with her son
Frank and family. When quite young deceased was converted and during the
remainder of her life was an active zealous Christian. She was exceedingly
industrious and her kind, helpful nature was ever giving itself out for the good of
others. Although her hearing was greatly impaired she could converse readily and
her company was sought after by both old and young. Her greatest happiness came
in rendering assistance to others and her many deeds of kindness will long be
remembered by a host of friends who sincerely mourn he death and who extend
heartfelt sympathy to the relatives in their overwelming affliction.
