Stonington, Conn.,

JAMES, Sr., called
Major James Jones, was a son of Henry and Eunice
(———) Jones,
and was a Revolutionary soldier. He married Catharine
Dennison, who was a
daughter of Daniel and Catharine (Avery) Dennison.
They dwelt in Stephentown, N.Y., where he died July 26, 1803, and
she
March 9,
1851. Their family of children consisted of five sons and five daughters,
of
whom we have an account, the order of whose births
is not fully determined.

Capt. William Johnson and Hannah (———) Johnson, his wife,
emigrated
from
Scotland about 1775, bringing with them three orphan children — a boy
and his
two sisters — who were probably a nephew and nieces of either William
Johnson or
his wife, and who were brought up by the Johnson family, who settled
in Berlin,
Rennselaer Co., N.Y.
These children were :

Sheldon, and dwelt in Berlin. They
had two children, who grew to maturity:

This account of the origin of the Murrays of
Berlin, N.Y., was furnished by
James B. Murray, of Bridgcwarer, N.Y.
WILLIAM HENRY (1)—married Margaret Green, of Berlin, and bad four
sons but no daughters. The parents moved to the town of Plainfield, Otsego Co.,
N.Y., in 1825, where he died in 1851. She died in La Crosse, Wis. aged 77
years.

JOHNSON (2)—William Henry (1)—was born Oct. 28, 1801. in
Berlin, N.Y.. and married Betsey Whitford, who was born Aug. 5, 1800, and who
was a
daughter of Edward and and Polly (Maxson) Whitford, of Berlin.
They
settled in Berlin, but removed to Pittsfield, Mass., in the year 1847.
He died
in Utica.. N.Y ..and was buried in the cemetery at Pittsfield. She died in
Pittsfield.

lived successively in Berlin, Plainfield, Adams, and Watertown, all in
the State
of New York, removed to California, and returned to Adams, N.Y.,
where he died.

removed to
Cleveland, O., and from there to Oshkosh, Wis.,

Jerusha Dennison was a sister of Charles and Wheeler
Dennison.
They
dwelt on a farm very near Unadilla Forks Railroad station, in Otsego
Co., No Y., where she died.
