         [The following matter relating to several families the editor finds
among the author's MS., which he notes is but an outline of the object 
which the author had in view, which was to give his maternal ancestry.
This is made very clear in the Delong family, while in the other families 
the idea had not been so fully worked out.  The Jones and Murray
families belong to his wife, and in placing them here the author has 
paid a beautiful compliment to his life's companion, which bespeaks the 
kindly nature of the man.
         The editor feels that this matter, although incomplete, should not be 
thrown away.  In order to preserve it and to let the reader read full up 
to the place where the pen dropped from the worthy author's hand, 
must be our apology for its publication.] EDITOR.

       STEPHEN (3)—son of .Jonathan— who died .Jan. 13, 1812, aged 71 
years, married Patience Eldred.  He was perhaps born  in Rhode Island, 
and may have married there.  They were both buried in the old Mount 
Vision Cemetery.  The special places of their residence not known.
        Their family of children, according to best present information, is 
here given but the order of their. names is not known.

                                                    HEARNDON

        BENJAMIN HEARNDON (or Hernton, or Herndon) or Providence, 
R.I, in 1646 was in Providence; in 1647 was. perhaps a. short time at 
Lynn; in 1666 swore allegiance at Providence, and died there April 18,
1694 having made his will the day previous to his death. His wife               , .
Liddea executed his will, and died June 14, 1710.

The following is from the Town History of Shirley, Mass. :

        This name is of very frequent occurrence in the towns of New England, 
and it is presumed that those who bear it are chiefly the descendants of Robert 
Harrington, who was settled at Watertown as early as 1642.  Some of his 
posterity or kindred were located in Lexington, and it is believed. that those of 
the name who found homes in Shirley wandered here from that town.
        Mr. Hudson, in his history of Lexington, gives the names and birth dates 
of three brothers of the name which correspond with three that lived here a few 
years past the middle of last cet1tury.  If these parties

were identical, they were the sons of Richard Harrington of Lexington, who was 
of the fourth generation from George, who was supposed to be a son or brother 
of Robert, the immigrant of 1642.

1748, Sarah Rogue, who was born Dec. 12.1732.
         They dwelt in the town of Sherman, Fairfield Co. Conn., and probably
 died there, she Aug. 25,1782, and he Aug. 5, 1805.

        The above records of births and deaths was transcribed from a bible 
that belonged to Stephen, fifth child of the above family. which bible 
was in the possession of Stephen Rensselaer Stewart, of Springfield, 
Otsego Co., N.Y.

         STEPHEN (2)— Alexander (1)— was born July 25, 1758, married 
Hannah Stewart, who was a. daughter of Nathan (or Nathaniel) Stewart, of 
Sherman, Conn.
        He was a saddler by trade, and they settled in Sherman, where seven 
of their children were born.  He enlisted in the War of the Revolution,
 and after the war became ensign of the 16th company of militia in the

17th regiment of Connecticut.  His commission was dated at .New
Haven, Conn., Oct. 26, 1791, and bears the signature of Samuel Huntington, 
George Wyllys being secretary.  One year latter he became lieutenant of the
same company.
        The family moved from Sherman to Warren, Herkimer Co., N.Y., in the
month of December, 1798, where they afterwards dwelt and there died.  They
were buried in a family cemetery on their homestead, which homestead was 
situated about four miles northwest of the village of Richfield Springs.

        Nathan (or Nathaniel) Stewart's second wife had a daughter Luna with 
whom Luna Norton Delong lived for some time when a girl in Litchfield, 
Litchfield Co., Conn.

        JARED (3)—Stephen (2), Alexander (1)—married Lucy Payne, and 
dwelt in Warren, Herkimer Co., N.Y., until over fifty years of age, when they 
moved to Rome, N.Y., where be died in 1836.

Children.

               i    Nelson Payne (4) m. (1). Fish, and dwelt in Detroit,
                           Mich. He was at one time one of the officers of the
                           Detroit & Milwaukee Railroad.  The particulars of his
                           family and second marriage have not been obtained.
               ii   Myron (4) died single.

        BRADLEY (3)— Stephen (2), Alexander (1)—married Mary Griswold, 
and dwelt in Warren, N.Y., where he died in 1824.

1823, Sarah Hulbert, who was born Jan. 21, 1798, and who was a daughter of 
James and Lucy (Hart) Hulbert, of Warren, and dwelt in Walten, N.Y.

                          Losee, and dwelt at. Richfield Springs, N. Y ., where
                          he died April 24, 1871.  His first wife's daughter was

                          W. Bolt, and died at Fredonia, N.Y., April 10,1853,

                                          DELONG.

       CAPT. JAMES (1) was born probably in Dutchess or Columbia, Co., 
N.Y.  His parents may have came from the New England States.
        A tradition prevails that four brothers came from France to the Colonies 
about the time or a little before the Revolution, two of whom became rebels 
and two Tories; the Tories going to Canada, and Captain  James was one of 
the two brothers who were rebels, remained in the Colonies. I
       He married ——— Shaw, (?) and dwelt in Columbia or Dutchess 
Co., N. Y.  He is said to have been married twice, particulars of second 
marriage not known.

       These children had a cousin Ephraim, who dwelt on ."Crumhorn " 
Mountain, so-called, Otsego Co., N.Y.  Another cousin, James Delong, 
dwelt at Herkimer, N.Y., and tended canal locks and was overseer of 
the poor-house.  Another cousin from Herkimer Co., was Cornelius 
Steward, and some of his descendants went to Lawrence Co.

        ISAAC (2)—James (1)—married Rebecca Allen, and dwelt in Warren,
Herkimer Co., N. Y.

       CAPT. JAMES (2)—James (1)—was born April 3, 1777, probably in

was born June 11, 1788, in Sherman, Conn., though some say near New
Haven, and who was a daughter of Stephen and. Hannah (Stewart) Stewart.
        They dwelt successively in Warren, Hartwick, and Watertown, N.Y.
He died in Watertown, Oct. 6, 1849, and she Sept. 8, 1857.

        James (2) had an aunt by the name of Mrs.——— Smith, and perhaps 
                    another who married Isaac Jackson, and dwelt in Columbia, N.Y.

        JOHN (2)—James (1)—was born March 26,1780, married Diadama
Babcock, who was born April 7, 1783.
       They dwelt on Stewart's Patent, so-called in the town of Otsego, very
near the boundary line dividing this town from the town of Springfield,
Otsego Co., N.Y., where she died June 5, 1836, and he March 1, 1864.

        BETSEY (2)—James (1)—married Jedediah Caswell, and dwelt at Manlius 
Square, Madison Co., N.Y.  He died aged about seventy years, and she 
somewhat younger,  The order of the following list not certain.

        ROSANNA (3)—James (2), James (1)—was born in Warren, N.Y., Nov. 
1, 1808, and married at the Hope Factory, so-called, near Cooperstown, N.Y., 
Henry Raught, concerning whose parentage and ancestry nothing has been 
communicated.
        They moved to Watertown, N.Y., where he followed the trade of a mason. 
From this place they went to the western part of Pennsylvania. where he engaged 
in the lumber trade on the Clarion River, at a place afterwards known as Raught's 
Mills, and where they died.

                           with a family of seven children.

N.Y., Nov. 7, 1812: and married Lovina Page, who was  born April 14, 1814, 
and who was a daughter of Amasa and Luna  (Townsend) Page.

        JAMES (3)—James (2), James (1)—was born Aug. 9, 1817, and married
Mary Lord.
        They dwelt in Watertown, where he was acting as agent for insurance 
companies. From this place they moved to New Jersey, near the city of 
Philadelphia.
                
        GEORGE NELSON (3)—James (2), James (1)—was born April 23,
1823, and married Lucina Woodward. 
         They dwelt in Watertown.

                i   Calpherna (4).

        CHARLOTTE ZENANA (3)—James (2), James (1)—was born May 27, 
1826, and married Jan. 2, 1848, Frederick B. Schram, who was born  May 22, 1822. 
        They dwelt in Watertown, where he was engaged in the livery business. 
and where he died Oct. 14,1873.
        They had a daughter

                i   Nellie D. (4) b. March 14, 1848, and died Oct. 25, 1878, unmarried.

        She married (2) Feb. 19, 1879, Ira D. Curtis.

        HOMER BRADLEY (3)—James (2), James (1) -was born in Hartwick, 
N.Y., Aug. 12, 1829, and married Helen Child. They dwelt in Janesville, Wis.

        MYRON BINGHAM (3)—James (2), James (1)—was born Sept. 30. 
1833, and married July 3, 1862, Josephine Wells, who was a daughter of Harry 
and Amelia (Osterhout) Wells, of Three .Mile Bay, N.Y., where they dwelt, and 
where he engaged in business as a tinsmith, and dealer in hardware.
