| Coming from the Alsace Lorraine area of North- eastern France, perhaps from the town of Verny, about ten miles South of Metz, the family going first to Sturminster-Newton, Dorset, England before 1740. The progenitor made his way to America. Most likely a Huguenot, he first settled in Virginia. Our first account comes from Hampshire Co., VA an area now part of West Virginia. ANDREW VINEY, born probably about 1715 in France, died between Jul. 12 and Aug. 11, 1781 in Hampshire Co., VA, married Susannah ? It is recorded he owned a deed to land on the Lost River of Cacaphehorn in Hampshire Co. on Jun. 24, 1750. Children:
